Here, we have the rare Stegamandasaurus in her natural habitat. Surrounded by trees and sustained by coffee and snacks, a smile appears permanently plastered on her face.
Wise adventurers know to approach this creature with caution. She does not like to be startled, but if greeted gently she gives the best hugs.
A very intuitive being, the Stegamandasaurus always follows her instincts. She collects tiny rocks, known as crystals, and can be found howling at the moon whenever it is full.
with just a pinch of go fuck yourself 😘
Listen, being an energy healer (or even just an energy-sensitive person in general) requires some pretty strong boundaries. I learned that lesson the hard way.
Nowadays, I am very intentional about who I surround myself with - as we all should be, really. Did you know you are the sum of the 5 people you spend the most time with? Hopefully this comes as good news.
Obviously, I'm a little sweary. If you're not a fan of "sentence enhancers," I'm not your people. Remember those strong boundaries? I cut contact with some of my family because they chose to tolerate someone spewing racist and homophobic comments, but not me telling him to fuck off. 🤷🏻♀️
(Sometimes more than people...)
My claim to fame is finding a sick, half-dead dog at a truck stop 11 hours from home and taking him in. 🙃 He's front and center in the above photo with his two brothers (who were also rescued but not nearly as dramatically).
I have saved an overheated bat from a CVS parking lot and a finch with an injured foot. I have also brought a paralyzed squirrel to our local wildlife clinic so he wouldn't die alone.
Most recently, I have saved a baby starling who fell out of its nest, and offered 3 memorable days of hospice care to a one-winged butterfly.
We have SO much to learn from animals, and I will always be a friend to them.
I'm also neurospicy 🌶 (But aren't we all?)
I don't take anything too seriously. I love to follow joy wherever it takes me, and I find time to play every day. My clients come for the wisdom and stay for the bad jokes.
Why were the blueberries protesting? Because they're antioxidants!
Why can't Santa's elves stand alone? Because they're subordinate clauses!
Laughter raises our vibration, so I don't care if you're laughing with me or at me as long as you're laughing.
Even if that means getting sand in ALL the places.
I firmly believe that DONE is better than "perfect." As a recovering perfectionist, and as someone who works with a lot of perfectionists, this is a hill that I will die on.
I take a lot of pride in my work, and in showing up authentically. Representation matters, and I am living proof that you can prevail over multiple eating disorders, anxiety, depression, and trauma.
I have chosen to heal out loud so that we don't lose any more people to silence. I am committed to being a safe space for anyone who is healing.
That's one of those references that lives rent-free in my brain, but I don't know where it came from. After a quick search, apparently it's hair club for men. 😂
Anywho, I am nothing if not multifaceted. In addition to running Modern Self-Care, I am a bartender and the assistant to a wedding photographer. And I am incredibly dedicated to my own self-care practice.
I learned a long time ago that I need variety to thrive. Working one full-time job is a direct path to burnout, and I'm all set with going back to that.
In my free time, I love to hike, read, bake, drive aimlessly, run occasionally, and daydream relentlessly.
